The Viewer
The Viewer lets you interact with the 3D models. After you select a model, you will see the NaviCAD logo and a progress bar while the model is being loaded. Some models are very large and can take a significant amount of time to download and render. You can tap the back button at any time while the model is loading to return to the selection screen where you started.
Once the 3D model is loaded, the view is zoomed so the model's full extents are visible. We call this the outside, or OUT, mode, since you are navigating around the outside of the model.
You can navigate by moving the iPhone: To look up at the model, raise the device up and tip it as if you are looking up through it. Similarly, tipping the device towards the floor lets you look down at the model.
You can rotate the model with left and right by swiping a single finger left and right. Two-finger swipes pan the model left and right, and pinching in and out zooms in and out. When you double-tap parts of certain models, that part of the model becomes highlighted and its center becomes the center of your navigation. Double tapping outside of the model zooms back and centers the whole model.
You can bring up the navigation bars for five seconds at any time by single tapping any part of the screen.
Some models (like many sports stadiums) are interesting to view from the inside. You can use the IN mode to place yourself, rather than the center of the model, at the center of navigation. In this mode, all of the gestures are the same, but the view changes as if you are at the center of the navigation.
The Toolbar Buttons
Tap the Reset button to bring you back to the original position (but not rotation) in space.
Tapping the Email button brings up an email that lets you send a link the the 3D model that you are currently viewing. Note that when the email application is launched, the NaviCAD application exits, but you can relaunch it, and it will return to the screen that you were previously viewing.
The Add button (the middle button on the bottom bar) allows you to bookmark the 3D model you are currently viewing. Note that this button is disabled if you have already bookmarked the model. The Add Bookmark screen comes up so you can confirm (tap the Save button) or cancel (tap the Cancel button) adding the bookmark.
The last two buttons on the toolbar, the Bookmarks button and the History button, bring you to those two screens, respectively.
